Little Cowpoke

Every year about this time in Houston, we celebrate the Rodeo. "Yeehaw" enters it's way back into everyone's vernacular and western wear makes its appearance in the oddest of places. One of those is "Go Texan Day" at school where little two year olds go to preschool in Ropers and cowboy hats and kindergartners wear bandannas and rhinestones. It's all very amusing.

Here is a picture of my rough and tumble cowboy.

Beverly Hills Gothic

This is one of the latest "Unformal Portraits" that Casey and I worked on. This one was a trip. We took a very well-known and recognizable piece and did our take on it. It was also fun to play with our very talented actors who ham it up for a living and were up for just about anything we asked them to do. I think they capture the iconic Beverly Hills snobbery quite well. Here's the original...

Take a look behind the scenes.

First haircut

It took Mommy, Daddy, Mimi and his favorite "Blues Clues" to take him from this....

to this...
No more, "Oh, SHE is so cute", "How old is SHE?", "What is HER name?". HE is cute, HE is 1 year old and cutting some major molars and HE is my sweet Sullivan.

He Got In!

Our early morning paid off. All of our boys got one of the coveted
spots. Hallelujah! One of them had better go on to cure cancer.

WHAT?!

I am having an "Are you kidding me?!" moment right now.

It's 4:45 am and I am sitting in line to try and get my son into
preschool. PRESCHOOL!

I was told that they fill up quickly and that if he was to go here, I
needed to get in line early.

Let me paint a picture for you... Registration starts at 8.
The lady on the phone said that they would open the church doors at 5.
I am 20th in line, and there are 12 spots left in his age group. I'm
just praying that not all 19 in front of me have 4 year olds! The
first 6 in line have been here since 6pm last night! The next lady- 11
pm and the next- 12am. The rest obviously got here earlier than me.
Including my friend Nichole. Are we dedicated or what?

WOW!
